Johanna Marin, Folmer’s founding Partner and Investment Director, defended her dissertation in the discipline of Management and Organisation of the Turku School of Economics on 12 February 2021. The target organization for the dissertation was Folmer’s own platform target company. The research confirms the affective nature of organizational identity, provides theoreticalization of the area and shows the practical significance of the results as part of the ownership change situation resulting from the acquisition. The results of the dissertation are applicable to the private equity industry and, more broadly, to various M&A transactions.

Folmer Equity Fund I Ky (the Fund) has exited its portfolio company Oy Canorama Ab in June 30, 2020. In the completed transaction, the Fund, a sole owner of Canorama, sold its shares to Lounea Oy.

The Fund became the owner of Canorama in March 31, 2011. During Folmer’s ownership, Canorama has made three acquisitions and expanded its offering strongly into IT services. Canorama has become a major nationwide supplier of IT and multi-function devices and services during Folmer’s ownership. Canorama’s revenue in 2019 was approximately EUR 23 million.

The fast-growing forklift solution provider Finnsiirto Oy, a portfolio company of Folmer Equity Fund II, has acquired Simeri Oy and Suomen Telakone Oy, thus creating a new operator with a significant role at national level with also a presence in the Baltics. Simeri Oy and Suomen Telakone Oy will continue to operate as independent subsidiaries. The estimated revenue of the new group for the current financial period is approximately EUR 60 million, and the group employs approximately 120 professionals.

A Christmas donation by Folmer Management Ltd enables a group of girls a safe Christmas. The International Solidarity Foundation, a partner of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and a member of the Finnish Fundraising Association (VaLa ry), is maintaining safety camps during Christmas time for Kenyan girls under threat of female genital mutilation. In the safety camps, myths regarding mutilation are nullified and parents are committed to protect their daughters and their lives.
